1658: Pieter Jansen Stockholm gave power of attorney to Simon Jansen Romeyn, trader at Amsterdam in New Netherland to collect from the General Chartered West India Company the sum of 429 guilders, nine strivers & 8 pence in which Pieter Jansen has earned at Amsterdam in New Netherland from the said company  (Ref:  Ft Orange minutes, 11/23/1658)
1659:  Sijmon Janssen, plantiff, against Jan Van Eecklen, deft.  Sijmon says that Jan has in his custody some silverware belonging to Christoffel Davids.  Sijmon requests that he may have part of this as security, as he has a promissory note from the aforesaid Christoffel Davids.  (Ref:  Ft. 1660:  Jan Barensz D) 10/5/1660 at the house of the widow of Aart Willemsz.  Gerrit Van Tright & Symon Jansz Romeyn appointed administrators.
1661:  Jacob Tyssz Vanderheyde as attorney for Symon Jansen Romeyn, that Arien Symonsz owes to Simon Jansen Romeyn, 32 beavers, 6 guilders in beavers,
at 8 guilders apiece.

1662:  Symen Jansen Romeyn asks for an attachment of 54 glrs., dutch money, in the posession of Jan Aersen Smit, due him from William Jansen Stol.
[Note:  William Jansen Stol was a cooper & is noted in the Van Rensselaer Bowier Manuscripts, pg 842, he M) the widow of Claes Hendricks & moved to Esopus in 1661.]
1662:  Johannes Van Brugh, pltf. vs. Symon Jansen Romein, deft.  Simon's 2nd default.  Johannes demands from Symon, as attorney of the estate left by Pieter Jacob Buys, the sum of 150 guilders, eighteen stivers in beavers.  Court orders Simon to deposit money with the city.

1662:  Symen Jansen Romeyn, vs. Willem Jansen Stooll, deft.  Simon demands from William Jansen Stoll, 70 guilders, THIS DEBT WAS DUE HIS FOREFATHER, CLAES HENDRICKSEN, DEC'D [emphasis added]. Willem offers to pay the principal.  (Ref:  NY Historical Manuscripts, Dutch, Kingston Papers, pg 42)
1662:  8/10:  Albert Andriessz [Bratt] appointed Simon Jansen Romeyn his special attorney to collect rent from Jan Janssz De Jongh, dwelling in New Amsterdam over due house rent (Ref:  Early Rec's Albany, Vol 3)
1662:  (Court Min. NA)  Symon Janzen Romein & Gerrit Van Tright vs. Albert Albertzen, Ribbon Weaver [This was Albert Terhune, father of our Claes Jansen wife]  Symon & Gerrit state that Albert is bound to deliver them tobacco according to the contract about the purchase of land.
1662, Feb. 23:  At the request of Weyntie Elberts, the Court appointed Paulus Leendersen van der Grift and Symon Jansen Romeyn guardians of her children by Aert Willems.  Stryker-Rodda does not name which children so it is not known if the daughter named Wyntie was still living.
1663:  Symon Janzen Romein, pltf. vs. Jan Rutgerzen Moreau, deft.  Symon demands from Jan Moreau 40 guilders in sewant.  Jan admits the debt.  (Ref:  Rec N.A., Vol 4)
1663:  Lot 4, Block E, Deed, Symon Jansen Romeyn, Atty. of creditors of Pieter Jacobsen Buys to Mighiel Muyden.
1663:  Egbert Benick's wife had died, left one child.  The father intends to return to the fatherland.  Hendrick Jansz Van der Vin & Symon Jansz Romeyn appointed guardians.
1663:  Symon Janzen Romein entering says, he has a judgement against Francois De Bruyn, producing the same & that he has attached the monies of said de Bruyn in the hands of Frerick Flinzen, requesting that the attachment be declared valid & he admitted to lift the money aforesaid.  The court declares the attachment valid & the petitioner is allowed too lift the monies under bail.
1663:  Egbert Bennick, son-in-law of Claas Jansen Ruyter, dec'd appears in Court requesting by petition that no disposition be made regarding the reunication of the estate, as the creditors claim, that the estate is insufficient & they shall enquire through others, whether they can remain in posession. The request by the W: Court & the petition returned.
1663:  Jurrien Blanck, pltf., vs. Eghbert Bennick, deft.  Pltf. demans from deft. 170 guilders in sewant for rent.  Deft. says the small house is not habitable.  Burgomasters & Schepens refer the question to Hans Stein & Adolf Pietersen to examine parties in question & if possible reconcile them, if not to make a report of their award to the Court.
1663:  Joannes de Peister, pltf. vs. Symon Janzen Romein, deft.  Pltf demands of the deft. in his quality of attorney of the general creditors of Pieter Jacob Buys, the quanity of 4 beavers for shoes.  Deft. says that Arent van Corlaas had the shoes, he must therefore get the pay from him.  Pltf. says that Corlaar told him that he paid the beavers to Buys.  The W: Court decree, if the pltf can prove by Arent van Corlaar that he paid Pieter Jacobs Buys for the shoes, that the deft. in his quality as aforesaid satisfy & pay the pltf. for the demanded 4 beavers.
1663:  Symon Janzen Romein, pltf., vs Burgomasters Paulus Leenderzen van der Grift & Govert Loockermans, as curators of the insolvent estate left by Tomas Janzen Mingael deft., Pltf produces a judgement against Tomas Jansen Mingael dec'd, dated 12/6/1661, obtained from this W. Court, purporting to pay him the sum of 288 guilders, 12 strivers in sewant & 9 beavers; demanding preference by virtue thereof in the goods left behind.  The deft. answer that the claim cannot be preferred, as the judgement is over a year.  The court postponed the case until the next court day.
1664:  Symon Janzen Romein, Pltf., vs Jan Gerrizen van Buytenuyze, deft., Pltf as agent for Eghbert Bennick says that deft bought from Pieterje Jans, a coat, kettle & waterpot belonging to Eghbert Beninck, which Pieterje had in charge.  Deft says he must have money from Pieterje in diminution of debt bought aforesaid goods.  The W: Court decree, for the goods, which she had belonging to Egbert Beninck.  Ref:  Court Rec's N.A.)[Note:Pieterje Janse is probably the widow of Klaes Janse De Ruyter and the mother-in-law of Egbert Benick.]
1664:  Symon Romein, pltf. vs. Pieterje Jans & Jan Gerrizen van Buytenhuyzen, defts., Pltf demands that the goods which Pieterje Jans has of Eghbert Bennick may not be aleinated & that Pieterje Jans shall have to pay in the monies for the goods, which she sold to Jan Gerrisen van Buytenhuyzen.  The W: Court orders Pieterje Jans to speak & apply to Jan Gerrizen Buytenhuyzen for payment of the goods which she sold him belonging to Egbert Benninck & if she cannot obtain any payment therby, to summon him before the court  (Ref:  N.A. 1664:  Dirck Clazen Pottebaker, pltf., vs Symon Janzen Romein, deft., Deft in Default (Ref: NACR)
1664:  Syman Janzen Romein appearing demands execution of the judgement which he obtained against Jan Rutgersen Moreau in date 23 Oct. 1663
1664:  Symon Janzen Romein entering exhibits the execution granted on the judgement against Jan Rutgerson Moreau & demands that it may take its course; also an attachment on his goods or monies on which he wishes to levy at Ft. Orange, & whereas no reply has been passed Symon Jansen Romeyn is ordered to demand one from the Hn. Officer.
1664:  We the undersigned, each for himself individually, promise to give on interest in behalf & for the fortification of this City:  Symon Janzen Romein...200 Fl.
1664:  Susanna Bresar, pltf. vs Symon Jansen Romein, deft., Pltf demands that the deft. as attorney of Pieter Lucasen van de Goes shall repair the fence of the aforesaid Pieter Lucasen' lot as she suffers much damage in her garden from the hogs.  Deft. promises to do so & to make the fence close this week.
1664:  Wheras Isaac Bedlo is about to depart for the Virginias & is authorized by the Court of this city as curator of the estate left by Salomon la Chair, dec'd., it is therefore necessary too put another in his plase & Simon Jansen Romein is hereby authorized & qualified in his place, to manage with Jacob Kip the aforesaid estate according to act thereof being & remaining with Jacob  aforesaid, as the same shall be found proper.
1664:  Symon Janzen Romein, pltf. vs. Tomas Hall, deft. Pltf as att'y of Jan Joukes demands from deft. according to his book, a hogshead of tobacco of  330 pounds gross delivered to him, producing the book.  Deft. says, he has not rec'd the tobacco; demands proof & to whom delivered.  Deft. is asked:  whether he will declare on oath that he has not rec'd the tobacco?  Answers,Yes.  But takes 8 days time to recollect himself further, which was allowed him.
1665:  Jacob Vis, vs. Symon Janzen Romein, deft.  Pltf demands that deft. as attorney of Joannes Withart, shall be condemned to pay fim the half of the black amber bought in company with sd. Withart & then to receive half of the black amber.  Deft. says that Joannes Withart spoke to him only of a lump and that the pltf. showed him somewhat more.  The W; Court orders deft. to satisfy & pay pltf. according to judgement & to receive half of the black amber purchased.
1665:  Jacob Kip, pltf. vs. Symon Janzen Romein, deft. in default.
1665:  Jacob Kip, pltf. vs Simon Janzen Romein, deft.  Pltf. as attorney of his father in law, Joannes Monjeer de la Montagne Senior, demans from deft, as attorney of Joannes Withart, the sum of 37 guilders 10 stivers in beavers.  Deft. says he has no beavers in hand for Joannes Withart, requesting time.  The W: Court condemns deft. to satisfy & pay pltf.
1665:  Jacob Vis, pltf. vs. Jacob Kip & Simon Janzen Romein, as curators of the estate left by Solomon La Chair, deft. Pltf. produces a mortgage against the estate by Solomon La Chair, dec'd., demanding payment to the award of arbitrators & preference of the house & lot of the above named La Chair, in virtue of the aforesaid mortgage.
1665:  Symon Janzen Romein entering requests that the 2 arbitrators appointed to terminate the matter in dispute, regarding the black amber between him as attorney of Joannes Withart & Jacob Vis.  The W: Court commissions for the settlement of the case aforesaid.  Isaac Grevenraet & Nicholas de Meyer to hear parties concerning their difference.
1665:  Symon Jansen Romein shall have to take the half of the black amber in question, on pain of imprisonment; and whereas the above named Vis has not produced with his papers handed in, the affiadavit appertaining to this matter, which being this day produced, the Court finds that it does not specify any quantity.  Therefore Burgomasters & Schepens for the decision of the case in question, as the quantity of black amber, bought between Vis & Joannes Withart, Isack Grevenraet & Nicolaas de Meyer, both old Schepens of this City to take up the matter in presence of Schepen Jacques Cousseau to hear & examine parties, to discuss & decide the question to endeavour if possible to reconsile parties, if not to report their award to the court.
1665:  Jacob Vis by petition, that Symon Jansen Romein shall swear in the place of Joannes Withart, that the black amber was not bought more than once or twice in partnership, or is the Court shall think proper to tender the oath to him in support of his good right, he sshall then take it; also that Symon Jansen may be granted copy of this petition, to show his disposition thereupon by the next Court day.
1665:  Werrnaar Wessel, pltf. vs. Jeronimus Ebbinch & Symon Jansen Romein, defts.  Pltf. demands from defts 15 guilders 4 stivers for expenses disbursed on appearance in the settlement of the matter in question between skipper Moe Pietersen, whose attorney Symon Janzen Romein is & Jeronimus Ebbiinck regarding leakage of wines & the matter was referred by the adverse party to arbitrators.  Ebbiinck says, he knows of no appearance; Symon Jansen Romeyn acknowledging that the matter arranged by arbitrators was written at the pltfs. house.  Parties being heard, Burgomasters & Schepens decree & order the defts. shall
pay to the pltf. each half of the demanded 15 guilders 4 stivers.
1665:  Symon Janzen Romein entering respresents that the mater in question between him & Jacob Vis regarding the black amber is so far by arbitrators.  They decide as to what rate the beavers should be reduced to sewant.
1665:  Jacob van Couwenhoven, pltf. vs. Symon Jansen Romeyn & Jacob Vis, pltf. says that he had an a/c with Symon Jansen Romeyn as attorney of Johannes Withard & Jacob Vis for the brewery kept  in company with them, whereby he maintains some money is still coming to him, but he can never get a settlement because defts. never make up the a/cs with each other herein.  He requests that defts. may be ordered to settle the a/cs between them both returning hereunto, so that he may at once obtain his own.
1665:  Symon Jansen Romeyn appearing in Court requests that the attachment by him on the monies of Jacob Wolpherts remaining in his hands may be declared valid, until the a/cs as well of the brewery partnership may be made up and settled.
1665:  Wheras Symon Jansen Romeyn has stated to us, that the a/cs between him as attorney of Johan Withart & Jacob van Couwenhoven, and Jacobus Vis re: the brewery held by them in partnership are still unsettled, requesting that some persons may be commissioned & authorized to examine & make up the same between parties, inasmuch as they cannot agree and settle among themselves.

1665:  Symon Jansen Romeyn, plts. vs Jacob van Couwenhoven, deft.  Pltf. in his capacity of curator of the residuary estate of Salomon La Chair, demands from deft. the sum of fl. 552 in beavers according to obligation.  Deft. acknowledges to have signed the obligation but for various reasons & motives which then prompted him, he thought he then did not owe anything; he says also that he has divers a/cs in offset amounting to more than the obligation (Turned over to Courts for consideration)
1665:  Mr Jans Kierstede, pltf. vs Jacob Kip & Symon  Jansen Romeyn, defts.  Pltf. demands from defts. as curators of the insolvent estate of Salomon La Chair, the sum of 2 1/2 beavers, requesting that he may be preferred before the court creditors as the same arises from Surgeon's fees earned by pltf. from Solomon & his family.
1665:  Stoffel van Laar declares in Court that about midnight between the 8th & 9th inst. he met 3 soldiers coming about in front of Symon Jans Romeyn's house, each carrying a sack, but what it contained he knows not & says that they entered Jacob Wolphertsen's street with it.  (Note:  Stone Street, E of Broad, where J.W. van Couwenhoven has his dwelling house & brewery)
1665:  Symon Jans Romeyn, pltf. vs. Assur Levy, deft.  Pltf. demands from deft. the sum of 2 beavers for which deft had made him an assignment of Serg Exton who refused to accept the same; with costs.
1667: The curators of the estate of Pieterje Jans still refuse to let Simon Jansen Romeyn have Egbert Benninghs goods.
1667: Symon Jansen Romeyn appearing in Court states that among the property left by Pieterje Jansen, late wife of Albert the Noorman are divers goods belonging to  Ebert Benningh, son in law of said Pieterje which he left before his departure from here under the care of his said mother in law, according to inventory entered before Secretary Neviuss & witness requesting that the W. Court will be pleased to order the curators of the residuary estate of said Pieteritie Jansen dec'd. to deliver to him as attorney of the above named Benningh, according to procuration ass such goods as by said inventory shall still be found amont the goods left by said Pieteertie.  The W. Court having heard the request & the proffs being examined order the curators of the estate of Pieterje Jansen dec'd to sell said goods with the property of said Pieterje by public auction & to give the product of said Bennings to said Simon Jansen Romeyn as the said Bennings attorney on condition that Simon Jansen Romeyn shall give some security due a/c, proof & reliquua at all times, on being required, of his receipt to theose whom it may concern.  Pg) 58:  Pietertie has living a husband named Albert The Noorman residing at Albany; requesting to know if they shall proceed with the sale of the good & division of the same.
1667:  This 8th day of March I have by orders of Mayor Laval delivered to Symon Jansen Romeyn - attorney of Egbert Benningh from out of the goods left by Pietertie Jans, 1 silver gobblet, 1 gold ring with a fine stone, also an earthen pitcher, being the property cllaimed on the last Court day  by said Romeyn in behalf of Egbert Buyningh, out of the house of said dec'd.  Pieterje Jans, which are valued by Hendrick Assueros, having authority thereunto by the Honorable Mayor of aforesaid, as follows:  The Gold Goblet, fl 26.14 Hollands -- The Gold Ring with fine Stone, fl. 16. Holland--The Earthen Pitcher, fl. 5 zewant.
1667:  Johannes de Wit & Lodowych Post as curators of the estate of Pietertie Jans, dec'd., vs. Symon Jansen Romeyn, deft.  Pltfs. say the the deft. Symon Jans of 5 Feb last sued before this W. Court for divers goods such as a jacket, a bed & appurtenenances ets. out of the goods of said Pietertie Jans, which he said belonged to one Egbert Benningh & as pltfs. are since informed, said that jacket & bed was sold here by said Benningh, request the W. Court to be pleased to order said Symon Jansen Romeyn shall not take any goods, unless he first satisfactorily prove that they are the same goods which said Benningh left in the charge of said Pieterje Jansen.  Deft. answers and say he demands what said Benningh left in charge of his Mother In Law, Pietertie Jans & maintains that pltfs. are to bound to prove if they can that they are not said Bennings goods, which he, deft., now claims by inventory handed in from the house of the dec'd.  The W. Court  order that the sale of said Pietertie Jansen's goods be now sysoeded until the opening of the...[incomplete]
1667:  Johannes De Wit entering requests the consent of the W: Court to receive from the first proceeds of the estate of Pietertie Jansen, dec'd to pay of monies disbursed for in interment of said Pietertie according to a/c.  The request being considered by the W. Court they decide that the same consists with justice & order that the pltf. be paid from the first proceeds rec'd-the a/c being first examined & audited by the general creditors.  The W: Court do this day order the curators of the estate of Pietertie Jansen, dec'd not to proceed with the sale of the goods before 3 weeks after date.
1667:  The W: Court having read & considered the a/c delivered to the W; Court by Sara Kiersted for surgeons fees for the late Claes Jansen Ruyter & Pieterje Jansen demands to be preferred in the insolvent estate of said Pieterje Jansen.  Whereupon the W: Court after questions being put decide that said Kierestede shall be preferred in the said estate for the sum of 10 beavers & come in concurrence with the general creditors for the remaining 23 beavers.

1680:  Jan Loosdregh of Communipaw sold land to Simon Jansen Romeyn, Simon sold this land the same day to Jan Vander Lynden, 5/31/1681, same day,

1680:  12/14:  Simon Jansen Romeyn sold land to Jan Van der Lyndn, 5 morgans that was the original patent to Jan Cornelisen on 12/5/1654.  Desc:  Between
Gemoenepaen & Kin von Kol.  Crynnen sold it to Isaac De Forest, who rec'd a patent for it on 4/17/1664, the size, 40X375 rods.  He hold it to Thomas
Davison of NY, 4/15/1665, Davison sold it to Sjoert Olpherz, 2/11/650, a strip 20 rods wide out of the SW side of the tract, which Olpherz sold to Cornelis Steenwyck, 7/29/1681 & by him to Bartel CLaesen, 10/5/1681 & by Bartel Jacobsss to Rutgert Van Horne, 3/1702.  The NE half of the tract Davison sold to Jan Loosdregh of Communipaw, 5/6/1670, who sold to Simon Jansen Romeyn, attorney of Poulesse Cornelisen, formerly of Pembrepock,
12/14/1680.  Jan Vanderlinde sold to Cornelis Steenwyck, 7/29/1681.  Simon Jansen Romeyn sold the balance of this purchase to Poules Dowesse of

1695-1699:  Simon lived on the South Ward of NY, South Ward described as:  Beginning at corner house of James Matthews, by water side, N along the Heere
Graft, to the house of Simon Jansen Romey, thence W up Beaver Graft to the house of Arent Coursen to Water Side, including Pearle St., back to the house
of James Matthews.
